There are few properties that are generic and applicable to all the types of columns. We will cover these properties in this article.
The column name acts as a title which helps to understand what the entries in each cell of that column signify. To change the column name go to the edit column option and then change the name to the desired text.
Column type of a column can be changed by just selecting the new type as per the requirement. But it must be noted that in some cases changing the column type will lead to loss of partial or complete data in the cells of that column. This will happen when the new column type is not compatible with the data of the previous column type.
For example, if we change the column type from Text to Number, all the non-numeric data in the cells of the column will be lost. Or when we change the column type from Multi-Select to Single Select, only the first selection in each cell will be stored and all the other selections will be lost.
In case you do not want the column in the sheet anymore you can delete it using the delete column option.
In case you do not want to see a specific column in the sheet you can hide it using the hide column option.
To unhide the column you can click the hide option in the top bar and deselect the column.
You can cut/copy a value in a cell by using the keyboard shortcut: ctrl+x/c
And you can paste the value to a cell by using the keyboard shortcut: ctrl+v
To undo a change you can use the keyboard shortcut: ctrl+z
And to redo a change you can use the keyboard shortcut: ctrl+shift+z
